Workshop on e-Learning
A two day programme on e-Learning workshop was organized by FIK International in Mumbai from 21.04.08 to 22.04.08. Two participants from PMI-NTPC has attended the programme. The world class speaker of the programme was Mr. Bryan Chapman who is the chief learning strategist at the Chapman Alliance. He defined the practice of e-Learning as a mainstream component for many organizations who are looking to enhance traditional training with new methods for strategically optimizing learning and better aligning learning with company objectives.


National Seminar of Power Project Management
A National Seminar of Power Project Management was organized at Power Management Institute (PMI) on 18-19 March 2008. Inaugurating the seminar Shri Anil Razdan, Secretary Power appreciated NTPC for setting bench marks in Project executions. Drawing a parallel with game of golf, Shri Razadan underscored the importance of each link in the project management cycle. Delivering the special address on the occasion the Chairman and Managing Director Shri T Sankaralingam emphasized the need for fast decision making at all levels as an imperative for successful project management. Shri Sankaralingam added risk analysis and mitigation should be focused upon.

Senior professional from sixteen organization participated as delegates in the discussions and deliberations in the seminar. The speakers include project management experts from DMRC, L&T, PFC, Lanco Infratech, NIIT, IMI, PMA apart from NTPC. Mr Adesh Jain, President, PMA talked about the enormous capacity addition target of more than 78.000 MW in the 11th plan. For achieving this with quality, knowledge needs to be leveraged. Mr Alok Sud from PFC shared the lenders perspective and risk management in Project financing. Mr VK Gupta from NTPC talked about the NTPC’s experience in Hydro Projects approvals. Dr Vijay Prakash of NTPC gave project management the perspective from the environmental angle. Mr Vinod Kohli from NIIT spoke about IT enabling features of Project Management. Interesting case studies of project Management in Delhi Metro, Delhi International Airport Ltd (DIAL) project, Lanco Inratech Ltd were also presented. Shri AK Jha, ED (CMG), shared the NTPC best practices in Project Management. Dr C S Venkata Ratnam, Director, IMI touched upon the HR issues in Project management.

Concluding the seminar Shri G K Agarwal, ED (HR & PMI), said the softer aspects of project management are equally important. Successful Project Management is a result of well co-ordinated team work, sprit of involvement and the enthusiasm generated during the course of work.
Managing External Environment
A programme for Managing External Environment was held for Business Unit Heads of NTPC from 25/02/08 to 29/02/08. GMs from different projects participated in this programme.

Critical issues in Power Plant
Training programme on Critical issues in Power Plant was held from 25/02/08 to 27/02/08, which was attended by 20 NTPC executives.

Contract Management
Training programme on Contract Management for THDC executives was held from 18/02/08 to 22/02/08, which was attended by 25 THDC executives.

Leadership Top 25
An initiative has been taken to develop a pipeline of leadership competency through a five day leadership program from 03/12/07 to 07/12/07 to enable NTPC to meet its ambitious and diversifying challenges within next decade. 23 participants have attended the programme at “Center for Leadership Development S. P. Jain Center of Management”, Singapore.

Power Plant Familiarization
21 number of Graduate Engineer Trainees 2007 batch from Haryana Power Generation Corporation Ltd. would be trained by PMI for Power Plant Familiarization from 27/08/07 to 13/09/07.


Computers for physically challenged
An exhaustive Computer training was conducted for the physically challenged employees of NTPC from 13/08/07 tp 17/08/07.


ET 2007 Batch
Inaugural and induction programme for Executive Trainees 2007 batch recruited through campus selection for NTPC was held on 23/07/07. The programme was adorned by CMD of NTPC, Director (HR), ED (HR & PMI), ED (HR) and GM (HR & PMI).

Power Plant Familiarization
Graduate Engineer Trainees 2007 batch from Alstom India Ltd. would be trained by PMI for Power Plant Familiarization from 23/07/07 to 10/08/07.

Taj Trainees
Graduate Engineer Trainees 2007 batch from Taj Group of Hotels would be trained for General Management from 3/07/07 to 18/09/07.

Nano Technology Development & its Application
This programme aimed to provide the participants basic introduction to Nanotechnology and its applications and help participants rethink about their core business, about competitors, future skills requirements and think strategically about. It was held for the first time from 7/5/07 to 8/5/07.


PPF for ADANI
A training programme on Power Plant Familiarisation has been scheduled for the executive trainees of ADANI from 16/5/07 to 13/7/07.


Management Training for MPPTCL
A Management programme has been scheduled for the executive trainees of MPPTCL from 21/5/07 to 7/7/07.
Stress Management & Enhanced Productivity
This programme offered an insight into the corporate and private world of stress. How do we deal with it while carrying on with our daily lives and how to recognise it before it damages our health, relationships and productivity at work. It was held from 9/5/07 to 11/5/07 and was attended by 21 participants.


General Management Training
This training has been scheduled from 16/4/07 to 26/4/07 at PMI for the Executive Trainees of MPPVVL (MP Purvakshetra Vidyut Vitaran Co. Ltd.)


Take on Challenge for Differently Abled
In order to develop confidence of the physically challenged persons a training programme was held at PMI from 23/04/07 to 25/04/07 and was attended by 52 employees. Training was given on meditation to reduce their mental agony. Some of the issues like, accessibility, leadership, communication and positive attitude was covered in the programme.

This training programme was held at PMI from 25/04/07 to 27/04/07 for executives of State trading Corporation.

Speech by Ms. Ranjana Kumar, Vigilance Commissioner, CVC on “Key Success Drivers in Public Sector Scenario” was held on 18/01/07 and was attended by more than 40 participants.

A training programme on Computer Applications
A training programme on Computer Applications was held for Visually Handicapped employees of NTPC from 15/01/07 to 19/01/07. The programme was successfully conducted with 36 participants.

National Seminar On Expert System
A National Seminar on Expert system was organized in PMI w.e.f 12 -14 December, 2006 and was Inaugurated by Executive Director Energy Technologies and addressed by Professor L.K. Bhera of IEEE UP Chapter. This seminar was attended by about 70 participants from different power sector organizations. Many state – of - the - art technologies of expert systems was discussed during the seminar. Eminent faculties like Heads of electrical departments from IIT Kanpur, Delhi, NCL Pune, gave excellent exposure of the application of Expert system in power system.

Knowledge Based Maintenance Program for MAHAGENCO Executives
Three days program on “Knowledge Based Maintenance” was organized w.e.f 18 -20 December, 2006 for the executives of MAHAGENCO at their training center at Koradi. The program was attended by about 20 Executives from various operating units of MAHAGENCO.

Condition Monitoring Of Electrical Equipments for MAHAGENCO Executives
Three days program on “Condition Monitoring of Electrical Equipments” was organized w.e.f 18 -20 December, 2006 for the executives of MAHAGENCO at their training center at Koradi. About 20 Executives from various Maintenance and Operation departments of different units of MAHAGENCO attended this program and discussed various methodologies to access the condition of electrical equipments. The program was very well appreciated by the participants.

Induction Program for newly recruited Internal Auditors
Three days Induction Program for freshly recruited Internal Auditors was organized at PMI w.e.f 18 -20 December, 2006. The program was attended by 20 internal auditors from various projects and regional headquarters of NTPC. The program was inaugurated by GM (Finance) and Director (Finance) and Executive Director (Finance) joined the participants during the feed back session.

Employee Development Program for NTPC Executives
Four weeks Employee Development Program was organized by PMI at Lal Bahadur Shastri Academy w.e.f 18th December, 2006 to 12th January, 2007 for the executives of NTPC. The program is being attended by 20 executives from different departments of NTPC.

Life in Focus
A Talk on “LIFE IN FOCUS” by Dr. Parthasarthy from Vedanta Institute was organized by PMI for the Senior Executives of NTPC on 6th November, 06.

Developing Winning Attitude
A program on “Developing Winning Attitude” was conducted for the Senior Executives of STC w.e.f 13th – 15th November, 2006. The program was very well taken by the STC Executives.

Infrared Thermograph as Diagnostic Tool in Power Plant
PMI in association with IIT Delhi organized a Three Days Workshop on “Infrared Thermograph as Diagnostic Tool in Power Plant” from 15th – 17th November, 2006 for the Experienced Executives from NTPC Projects and other outside organizations. 17 Senior Executives from Ministry Of Defence, Indian Navy attended this workshop.

Advances in Library Information System
A Program on “Advances in Library Information System” was organized for the first time from 27th November to 1st December for the personnel from the functional areas of Library and information system.

Building High Performance Team
“Building High Performance Team” was conducted by PMI w.e.f 27th Nov. to 1st December, 2006 for senior level executives of NTPC. During the program the participants were taken to York Health Resorts near Pinjor for experiential team building activities. The program was very much appreciated by the participants.

Decentralized Distributed Generation
A Two days Program on Decentralized Distributed Generation was exclusively organized by PMI for Executives of REC at PMI from 29th to 30th November.

Gas Turbine Operations
A Four days program on “Gas Turbine Operations – OEM’s Technical Recommendations / Operational / Maintenance Reviews for Zero Forced Outage” was organized by PMI at SR-HQ for the experienced executives from NTPC Gas Based Power Stations from 28th November to 1st December, 2006. The program was organized in association with Operation Services Gas Turbine Group. During the program various OEM’s like BHEL, Hyderabad, BHEL- GE Gas Turbines participated in the program and presented their recommendations for efficient operation and maintenance of Gas Power Plants. This is in line with our commitment towards Zero Forced Outage of Gas Plants.

Celebrating Independence day
The 59th Independence Day of our country was celebrated with great enthusiasm in PMI on August 15, 2006. The flag hoisting was done by GM(In-Charge/HR & PMI) followed by singing of the National Anthem. Exciting games & sports and painting competitions as well as songs and jokes created an environment of joy and happiness among good number of PMI families.

Attitude for Excellence
Two programmes on this theme were conducted on August 1 to 3, 2006 and August 29 to 31, 2006 for the executives of State Trading Corporation Ltd. attended by 25 participants from various disciplines. The programmes were aimed at motivating the participants to give their best performance in all walks of life.

Modular Programme for Fresh Engineers of the Taj Group of Hotels
10 week programme was flagged off on August 07, 2006 at PMI. This is a very prestigious programme to be obtained by PMI in its business development efforts and is being attended by 16 young engineers. The topics to be covered are a wide mix of technical inputs specially suited to the hotel industry and a few managerial topics. This programme will also earn revenue to the tune of Rs.12 lakhs for PMI.

Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) Business Excellence Model programme
Conducted from August 8 to 11, 2006 attended by 25 participants. The programme deliberated upon several strategies for achieving excellent performance in all functional areas of a business entity.

Finding Joy within Yourself
A spiritual discourse was given by Swami Sampoornanandji on Auguat 18, 2006 in Saraswati auditorium of PMI which was enthusiastically listened to by nearly 200 participants. PMI regularly holds such uplifting discourses which act as nourishment for the soul.

Two-Week General Management Programmes
This is for the junior and middle level executives of Tehri Hydro Development Corporation Ltd. (THDC) commenced on August 28, 2006 which is being attended by 16 participants. The programme aims at preparing them to take on responsibilities of the next higher level in their company. It will earn revenue of Rs. 8 lakhs to PMI.

Human Resource & Management Development
A two-day programme was conducted at the client’s premises of M/s Paschimanchal Vidyut Vitran Nigam Ltd. at Meerut on August 28 and 29, 2006. It was attended by a group of 20 Executive Engineers and Asst. Engineers. This was the third programme in the series.

Programmes for Punjab State Electricity Board

Punjab State Electricity Board (PSEB) has remained a steady client of PMI for the past six years. Like in previous years this year too PSEB has engaged PMI in conducting five General Management Programmes of One-Week duration for their junior, middle and senior level executives.

The forth and fifth programmes of this series was conducted from March 06 to 11, 2006 and from March 13 to 18, 2006 respectively. It was attended by 20 Sr.Ex.Ens and 20 Asst.Ex.Ens. of PSEB respectively. They gave a very positive feedback of the programme which will pave the way for future such programmes.

Apart from the above, four programmes on “ Partners in Progress for Trade Union Leaders ” was also outsourced to PMI by PSEB during 2005-06. The last two of this series were conducted from March 06 to 11, 2006 and from March 20 to 25, 2006 respectively.

All the above programmes earned substantial revenue for PMI to the tune of nearly Rs.40 lakhs.

Performance Management System programme done for

NHPC Ltd. , our sister public sector enterprise in the power sector entrusted PMI to do two programmes on General Management for their Chief Managers due for elevation to the next level. The second of these was conducted from February 27 March 11, 2006 and were attended by 31 participants. This series of programmes earned revenue of Rs.20 lakhs for PMI.

e-Guru
PMI has accomplished another milestone towards excellence through its e-Learning Portal, e-Guru. Mr. G. K. Agarwal, ED (HRD & PMI) inaugurated this e-Learning system presently with ten significant courses on HR and OB on 20th February 2006. The facility of e-Learning will be monitored by Learning Management System. The on-line courses will be available over NTPC’s Corporate LAN. Many employees have been already registered as users. e-Guru is open to all the Corporate executives.
"Organisational Growth through Personal Transformation" – programme for senior executives of STC

Continuing with the series of training interventions for State Trading Corporation Limited (STC) a one-day workshop on “ Organisational Growth through Personal Transformation ” was conducted for senior executives of the company on November 12, 2005 . The programme was inaugurated by the Director(Personnel) of STC Shri Rana Som and was attended by 21 nos. participants.

Assessor training for "Business Excellence Model"
A four-day training programme titled “ Assessor Training for Business Excellence Model ” was conducted in association with the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) from November 16 to 19, 2005 . This is in line with the various initiatives being taken by NTPC in the area of quality management. It was attended by 24 middle and senior level executives of NTPC.
Golden Peacock Award
Union HRD Minister Shri Arjun Singh presented prestigious Golden Peacock Award to NTPC’s Power Management Institute for Innovative Training in a function organized at New Delhi at India Habitat Center on 7th November, 2005. Picture shows Shri G.K. Agarwal, Executive Director (HR&PMI), Shri Swatantra Kumar, GM (PMI), NTPC Limited receiving the prestigious Award. This is the third consecutive year of receiving this award by PMI.
Introduction to Sahaj Marg System of Meditation
PMI has always believed in the holistic development of the individual. In this direction a one-day awareness programme was held on the Sahaj Marg System of Meditation on October 21, 2005 . 29 participants benefited from the discourses in this programme.
 
State Trading Corporation (STC) Ltd. , a central public sector company outside the power sector sent the third batch of 25 executives for training on “ Attitude for Excellence ” at PMI from October 24 to 26, 2005 . It is expected that more such programmes will be given to PMI in the coming months. These programmes will definitely contribute in developing PMI as a profit centreby earning revenue for it.
"Overcoming Reticence and Developing Assertiveness" – a unique programme for the Non-Executives of CC
In its continuous endeavour to develop the personality of our CC non-executives, PMI hosted a three-day workshop on “ O vercoming Reticence and Developing Assertiveness” from October 26 to 28, 2005 . The popularity of this programme can be gauged from the fact that a whopping 44 participants attended it.
National Seminar on "Energy Conservation"
PMI in association with Corporate Operation Services group held a National Seminar on Energy Conservation from October 20 to 21, 2005 . Many technical papers were presented by experts. The discussions will surely result in substantial benefits not only to NTPC but to all stakeholders in the power sector of India .
Spiritual discourse by Noted Spiritualist Shri Arun Rishi
A half-day talk on “Be a Total Quality Person” was delivered by the noted spiritualist Shri Arun Rishi on October 14, 2005. The talk was inaugurated by our CMD Shri C.P.Jain and was attended by a large no. of members of the NTPC family.
"Catching the Rainbows of Life" – self-development programme for the Non-Executives of CC
For the self-development of our CC non-executive employees PMI conducted a three-day workshop titled “ Catching the Rainbows of Life ” from October 05 to 07, 2005. It was attended by a huge number of participants, that is, 51 nos.
"Atma Srijan" – a Motivational Programme for the Physically Challenged"

A special workshop for the Physically Challenged  non-executives of CC under the title “Atma Srijan” was conducted from September 12 to 14, 2005 which was attended by 33 participants. The main objective of the programme was to make the participants feel as a normal member of the NTPC family and to enable them to discharge their duties effectively. The training provided motivation, developed innovative and creative attitude, decision-making skills, enhanced effectiveness and personality development and communication skills.

Attitude for Excellence done for STC

The second of the series of the programme  “Attitude for Excellence” was conducted for a batch of 25 executives of State Trading Corporation (STC) Ltd., from September 13 to 15, 2005. Two more such programmes are to follow in October and November, 2005. These programmes have earned handsome revenue for PMI.

Programme for the Medical Professionals
A programme on Current Trends in Cardio-vascular Medicine and Surgery was conducted from September 29 to 30, 2005 for the medical professionals of NTPC and other central public sector undertakings like Indian Oil Corporation Ltd. and National Hydroelectric Power Corporation Ltd.. The programme was very well received by 54 participants and the faculty was from The National Heart Institute, Delhi
Programme on Telephone Etiquettes
A one-day workshop on “Telephone Etiquettes” was conducted on September 15, 2005 for the PAs and PSs of Corporate Centre. It was attended by 29 participants who upgraded their skills in their functional area. The faculty was sourced from a reputed local institute Hero Mind Mine.
Programme for the Spouses of Employees
A one-day programme was specially conducted for the spouses of employees. The programme titled “Healthy Mind in a healthy Body” was attended by 24 spouses during which they learnt how to live a healthy life with a balanced diet, proper exercise and following stress management techniques.
Welcoming ETs-2005

The Executive Trainee – 2005 Induction Programme was inaugurated by Shri R.V.Shahi, Secretary, Ministry of Power, at a grand function organized by PMI at the Vigyan Bhawan auditorium in New Delhi on August 08, 2005 . Other dignitaries present on the occasion included Shri D.N.Padhi, Special Secretary, Ministry of Power, Chairman Central Electricity Authority and our CMD, Directors and other senior executives. This year a record no. of more than 500 ETs have been recruited to man the expansion projects of NTPC.

Development Programme for the Principals of NTPC site schools

Demonstrating the fact that NTPC is a learning organization, PMI organized a Development Programme for the Principals of NTPC site schools from August 03 to 05 . This was attended by 37 heads of these schools. The programme was conducted by IIM, Ahmedabad by their faculty who have the expertise in this area.

Developing Power professionals for Alstom

A four-week modular training programme on “Power Plant Familiarization” was conducted from August 08 to September 09, 2005 for the newly inducted executives of Alstom Projects India Ltd. The trainees were given theoretical and practical inputs on all aspects of power plant erection, commissioning, operation and maintenance including site visit to Dadri. Some modules on Materials Management and Financial Management were also covered to give a holistic training. This programme earned a revenue of Rs.12 lakhs for PMI and is a manifestation of the continued faith of Alstom in the training capability of PMI.

Training the Executive Trainees of M/s ALBA, Bahrain

In its efforts to go global PMI has commenced the 52-week modular training programme for three executive trainees of M/s ALBA, Bahrain from August 16, 2005 . They have been merged with our own batch and will cover all the technical and managerial modules. The Consultancy Wing of NTPC got us this business from Bahrain . It is needless to say this programme will earn precious foreign exchange for PMI and NTPC.

Training Programme on Performance Management System for NHPC
The third of the series of training programmes on "Performance Management System (PMS)" for the GMs and EDs of NHPC was conducted on August 11 and 12,2005. It was attended by 35 paritcipants. The faculty for the Programme was chosen totally from our HR department who have been instrumental in implementing the new PMS of NTPC
Training Workshop on developing Case Study for NTPC/Simhadri Project Management

A two-day workshop on developing Case Study on NTPC/Simhadri Project Management was conducted in association with IIM, Lucknow on August 02 and 03, 2005 . It was attended by 22 participants. The objective of this workshop was to showcase the project management practices which led to commissioning of NTPC/Simhadri power station in record time.

Workshop on Gas Turbine Component Repairing

A workshop on Gas Turbine Component Repairing was conducted at NTPC/Kawas from August 31 to September 02, 2005 . It was attended by 30 participants and renowned foreign faculty from the “Malayasian Advanced Refurbishment Services”, Malayasia and indigenous faculty from BARC, Mumbai and NML, Jamshedpur delivered the topics covered.

Training Hydro Executives

A modular training programme for the executives of NTPC's hydro power projects began on August 22, 2005 . It will cover Field Quality Assurance (FQA), Concrete Technology and other related topics.

2-week “Power Plant Familiarisation on Gas Power Station” for Libyan engineers

PMI has commenced a 2-week training programme on “ Power Plant Familiarisation on Gas Power Station ” for 10 nos. Libyan engineers from August 03 to 10, 2005 . This was done at the request of BHEL's International Projects Division and has earned a revenue of Rs.2.75 lakhs to PMI. This is a continuing series of programmes being done from November 2004.

Programme on Afforestation and Horticulture
A three-day programme on "Afforestation and Horticulture" was organized from July 6 to 8, 2005 which was attended by 21 participants. This was in line with NTPC's avowed objective of protecting the environment while generating power.

Conducting Aptitude Test for Power Finance Corporation Ltd.
On the request of Power Finance Corporation Ltd. PMI set the question paper, conducted the exam on July 8, 2005 and evaluated the answers of three employees who were due for promotion. PMI has been conducting its own departmental exam and this outsourcing to PMI by PFC is proof of its expertise in this area.

“Finance for Non-Finance Professionals” for ISGEC company
Indian Sugar and General Engineering Co. (ISGEC) having their office at Sec.-24, NOIDA approached PMI for designing and conducting a 2½ day training programme on Finance for Non-Finance Professionals for their engineers. This was conducted from July 28 to 30, 2005 and was attended by 19 senior executives of ISGEC. This programme was done using totally in-house faculty and earned a revenue of Rs.0.5 lakhs.

Performance Management System programme done for
NHPC Ltd. , our sister public sector enterprise in the power sector entrusted PMI to do three programmes on Performance Management System (PMS) for their senior executives. Two of these were conducted on July 26 & 27, 2005 and on July 28 & 29, 2005 and were attended by 17 and 20 participants respectively. The third and last such programme will be conducted on August 11 & 12, 2005 and will be attended by 38 participants.

Attitude for Excellence done for STC
State Trading Corporation (STC) Ltd. , reposing trust in the training capability of PMI, sent a batch of 25 employees for training on “Attitude for Excellence” conducted from July 19 to 21, 2005. It is expected that more such programmes will be given to PMI in the coming months.

Programmes on Financial Management for DVC
Damodar Valley Corporation (DVC), an old client of PMI, entrusted the conduct of four numbers two-week training programmes on Financial Management for their junior and senior batches of finance executives. These four programmes were conducted at their Kolkata headquarters between June 06 and July 30, 2005 and earned a total revenue of Rs.16 lakhs for PMI. Based on the success story of these four programmes, DVC management has already started giving many such packaged programmes on Contracts Management, Availability Based Tariff etc. to PMI to be conducted at their Kolkata headquarters. These programmes are a win-win proposition to DVC as it saves costs of travelling, boarding and lodging for their participants. .

Training Libyan Engineers
A two-week training programme on “Power Plant Familiarisation on Gas Power Plant Mechanical Maintenance” was conducted from June 15 to 28, 2005 for 10 nos. engineers from GECOL, Libya. This programme was done at the behest of M/s BHEL’s International projects Division. It provided a global dimension to PMI’s training endeavor and earned revenue of Rs.2.75 lakhs.

Childrens’ Programmes during Summer vacations
In order to constructively utilize the summer vacation time of NTPC employees’ children, several training programmes were conducted. These were:

SIX-WEEK MODULAR ORIENTATION TRAINING PROGRAMME LAUNCHED FOR NEWLY INDUCTED PFC EXECUTIVES
Power Finance Corporation Ltd.(PFCL) is a long-term customer of PMI and sends its batches of newly recruited frontline executives to PMI for a six-week modular orientation programme. One such batch of 14 executives started their training at PMI from May 24, 2005 which will continue upto July 09, 2005. During this tenure they will undergo two-week training on general management followed by one week each on thermal/gas, hydro, transmission and distribution respectively.
The inaugural programme held on May 24, 2005 was presided over by Dr.V.K.Garg, CMD/PFCL and was attended by Directors and senior executives of PFCL.

VISION AND VALUES WORKSHOP CONDUCTED
A two day workshop on ”Vision and Values “ was conducted on May 23 and 24, 2005 to revisit and redefine the existing vision and core values of NTPC. It was attended by EDs and Directors of NTPC and was facilitated by leading management guru Dr. M B Athreya

TWO-WEEK PROGRAMME ON MAINTENANCE PLANNING FOR IPGCL ENGINEERSME
A two-week training programme on “Maintenance Planning” was conducted for Indrapprastha Power Generation Company Ltd. (IPGCL) engineers from May 02 to 14, 2005. It was attended by 19 participants and earned a revenue of Rs.3.05 lakhs to PMI. Such programmes are a tribute to the robust O&M systems and practices of NTPC which are being imbibed by SEBs though these training programmes.


HRD CONFERENCE HELD
The conference of HR heads of projects and regions was held from May 18 to 20, 2005. All sites made presentations on significant achievements of their units and issues of mutual concern were discussed and deliberated in the conference. The HR scorecard modalities were also discussed during these three days.

INDUCTION PROGRAMME FOR AEs AND Asst.Chemists
The inaugural function of the Induction programme for AEs and Asst.Chemists was held on May 2, 2005. The induction programme continued upto May 11, 2005 during which the new recruits were exposed to senior executives of NTPC from different departments. NTPC has recruited 123 AEs belonging to Electrical, Mechanical, Civil and C&I streams and 27 Asst.Chemists to man our upcoming power stations.


Internal Change Agents


In order to strengthen the Communication Dynamics within NTPC, Internal Change Agents (ICA) have been identified from different projects to impart communication skills training to all employees of NTPC. These ICAs at the outset will undergo a five-day intensive “Train the Trainers” workshop at PMI and then disseminate the inputs they have imbibed through a series of workshops covering all executives of the project.

Induction Programme for Executives of Power Finance Corporation Ltd.

A two-week induction programme for the freshly recruited executives of Power Finance Corporation Ltd. has been commenced on June 01, 2004 and will continue till June 14, 2004. The inaugural ceremony was presided over by CMD, Directors and other senior executives of Power Finance Corporation Ltd.
