While adopting advanced Technologies, aspects of developing skilled operators cannot  be side tracked. With the expanding capacities and shrinking sizes of today’s power plants equipped with complex controls and sophisticated computers a small error during operation can be disastrous. One can hardly afford such unpleasant surprises in grid integrated power utility. Just a day’s downtime for a combined cycle power plant costs millions Rupees in direct revenue loss and many times more in terms of gross national product. Hence for training in whole gamut of plant operation, the simulators are becoming increasingly indispensable.

 656.2 MW Kawas  Gas Power Plant is composed of  2 combined cycle modules supplied by  M/s GEC Alsthom – France. Each module consists of 2 gas turbine generators, two Waste heat  recovery boilers (CMI – Belgium make) and one steam turbine generator. The Simulator is designed to reproduce real time behavior of one module for following operating  conditions:

NTPC  has a full fledged complex housing the simulator which is equipped with state of the art training facilities like pre- recorded lectures and presentation on video system, Power Point Presentation, Slide projection, exercises and assessment etc. Visits to  real reference plant is integral part of all courses. The complex includes well furnished conference hall, class rooms , library, auditorium etc. all surrounded in a lush green landscape. Lodging and Boarding facility is available at stones throw distance from simulator complex.
