FLARED JOURNAL BEARING ANALYSIS WITH ASPERITY AND RHEOLOGICAL EFFECTS
R.P. Singh*

The report covers thermal analysis of rough flared journal bearing (FJB) for its performance parameters. Effect of various operating parameters on the performance parameters of bearing have been presented in the text in graphical and tabular forms. Comparison of results of FJB (having identical dimensions of plain cylindrical journal bearing at mid of the bearing length) is carried out with plain cylindrical bearing for load carrying capacity and temperature. Load carrying capacity of bearing is more in presence of flaredness while its value decreases with presence of asperity. Isothermal analysis of bearing with non-Newtonian rheology of lubricant is also being incorporated in results.

Keywords: Thermal analysis, Flared Journal Bearing, Surface roughness and non-Newtonian rheology.
