Learning Never Ends
The learning process is continuous and that provides the reason why PMI provides a range of programmes to cater to growth and development of individuals at different stages of the career path. Mirroring the life cycle of an individual in an organization, the interventions are provided at critical junctures in the career path and commence with Induction Level Training, progressing through Programmes on Functional and Technical Expertise and General Management, ultimately culminating in the Programme for
Business Unit Heads.
Similarly, at the organizational level, learning never ceases and plays a major role in the growth and development of the organization. In the early stages of NTPC's existence when the emphasis was on Project Commissioning and Optimisation of Generation, training interventions were focused towards these areas. At this stage of our growth and development, with diversification in Distribution and Hydropower, creation of Subsidiary Companies in allied areas and formation of Joint Ventures, the training programmes are geared toward acquisition of knowledge, skill and perspectives in these ventures.
The programmes and interventions are designed to generate insight and conceptual frameworks which aid in application of knowledge to the workspace and the entire process is facilitated by faculty members with the relevant expertise. The individuals at various levels bring with them a wealth of experience and the entire learning experience attempts to build on this collective experience, to build a capability to face challenges and undertake enlarged responsibilities in a new role.
We acknowledge that PMI itself is on a learning curve and each programme provides us with a learning opportunity which can be used to enrich and enhance subsequent programmes. A conscious effort is made to innovate and incorporate change in existing programmes coupled with a constant search to add new programmes to PMI's Programme Portfolio. Our endeavour is to constantly improve on the way we learn, thus enhancing overall organizational capability.
